Thank you for your incredible support in May!

Thank you for continuing to show up for our neighbors in need. Because of your generosity, May was another meaningful month of impact for Womenade SLO. As a 100% volunteer organization, every dollar donated goes directly to meet an urgent, essential need for residents in the city of SLO.

In May:

18 referring agents reached out to us on behalf of their clients.

24 households donated so we met every need.

$4,485.65 was given to help SLO residents in need.

• As always, 100% of your donations helped someone in crisis in the city of SLO.

RSVP and join us for our June potluck. We’d love to see you there!

Elaine Stewart and Kathryn Dickinson were invited to present at last month's First 5 San Luis Obispo County's Commission meeting. Womenade SLO was a recent grant recipient from First 5 and Elaine reported back to the Commission on the 9 families their grant funds were able to help. Thank you, First 5 SLO County!

We're always looking for hosts! Introducing our group to your friends helps gets the word out about the work we do. If you’re interested in hosting a private event or one of our monthly potlucks, let us know!

Save the date! Womenade SLO will be hosting fundraising potlucks on the second Tuesday of each month. RSVP each month at womenadeslo.org or at the link in our bio on Facebook or Instagram

Your donations lift burdens for referring agents as well as their clients.

NEEDS MET IN MAY 2026

Partial rent for newly diagnosed cancer patient who cannot work and doesn't qualify for state disability. He has back rent due which HCRC is helping with but has this month's rent due as well. Referral from Ashley Hahn, Hearst Cancel Resource Center ($600).

Car repairs for an unhoused man using his vehicle for shelter and transportation. Without his vehicle, he risks losing access to medical appointments and mental health services. Referral from Marissa Behill, Restorative Partners ($498.81).

Two pairs of glasses for a student. They lost their old pair and insurance would not cover it. They are now able to keep one at home and one at school. Referral from San Luis Coastal Unified School District ($100).

Gas card for a single mom of 5 children. They are homeless, living in a hotel and her part-time job is not enough to cover expenses. Referral from Karla Najera, The Link ($200).

Tent, jacket and groceries for an unhoused man waiting for EBT benefits to be transferred to SLO County. He needs assistance during the transition until he moves into the Welcome Home Village in June 2026. Referral from Marissa Behill, Restorative Partners ($336.60).

Four nights in a hotel for a stage IV cancer who needed a clean, safe place to stay for a few days post hospitalization. Referral from Holly Taylor, Hearst Cancel Resource Center ($582.47)

Gas bill for a client struggling to find work while caring for a disabled son. Referral from Daniela Garcia, Access Central Coast ($241.50).

Dental bill for a low-income senior who had significant ophthalmology expenses that were not covered by insurance so they maxed out their credit card. Referral from Janet Hillson, Jewish Family Services of San Luis Obispo ($268).

Barber tools for a student who is working hard to pass all classes while cutting hair on evenings and weekends to help support the family. These tools will help them expand their clientele and further their future career in the field. Referral from San Luis Coastal Unified School District ($300).

Grocery items and a gift card to a laundromat for a blind and disabled single mom who is unable to work. Referral from Letitia Cervantes, Health Agency for SLO County ($158.27).

Partial rent for a cancer patient client who will be undergoing surgery and unable to work for approximately two weeks following the procedure. Referral from Leticia Cervantes, Health Agency for San Luis Obispo County ($600).

Partial deposit for an unhoused, working mom of 2. She saved part of the deposit and found an approved Section 8 home. This money, combined with support from HASLO and St Vincent de Paul, will allow her to get off of the streets and into a home. Referral from Rich Hendrickson, St Vincent de Paul Outreach of Old Mission SLO ($600).
